PROPERTY SEARCH GUIDE SOLLER
Soller is a delightful town in the rugged north west of Mallorca which is often overlooked in favour of its more commercial neighbours. The town is set in a rich green valley surrounded by mountains and clear blue sea which make for some breathtaking views. Soller became wealthy during the 19th century due to the valley’s abundant citrus groves which were shipped to France from nearby Port De Soller. As a result of this trade many of the towns residents went to work in France, made their fortunes and returned to Soller to build some of the stunning Modernista properties that can be seen in the town today.
Soller continues to embrace Mallorcan heritage with a small selection of traditional shops and art galleries, museums and a popular traditional Saturday market.
Port De Soller lies just down the road from Soller and the two are connected by a vintage San Francisco style tram which winds its way through the delightful scenery of lemon and olive groves. This relaxed holiday resort which is still a working harbour blends contemporary with quaint. In recent years it has undergone a revamp that is quite impressive and has made the resort home to a well known up market global hotel brand.
The handful of luxurious boutique hotels, the elegant promenade lined with chic bars and cafes and the renovated harbour all combine to attract the more discerning visitor.
Port de Soller embraces a more relaxed and slower pace of life. The numerous cafes, bars and restaurants are great places to watch the world go by. As such they are popular by both day and night and are family friendly. There is a wide selection of restaurants offering every type of cuisine from Mallorcan delicacies to pizza, pasta, fresh fish and much more, to suit all budgets.
With its proximity to the foot of the Serra de Tramuntan mountains, Port de Soller also attracts those who enjoy outdoor pursuits such as hiking or cycling. Being a port yachts boat trips can be booked and yachts are available to charter. There really is something for everyone at Port Soller.
