Santanyi is one of the most historic and traditional Mallorcan towns in the south east of The island. Lying slightly inland next to the second largest natural park in the Balearic Islands, Santanyi is a golden-stone town set in stunning surroundings that embraces its authenticity to provide visitors with a true flavour of Mallorcan life.
Santanyi is a former walled town that is steeped in history. Remnants from the time that the town was under attack from pirates can be seen in the fortified city wall and Porta Murdada (gate) which still stand.
Santanyi offers something for everyone in a serene atmosphere whether your interests are in art and culture, scenic views or a taste of Mallorcan life. The town comes alive on Saturday’s with market day and the market in Santanyi is said to be one of the best on the island. There are also many art galleries and artisan workshops to enjoy.
