PROPERTY SEARCH GUIDE TORREVIEJA
You will find the town of Torrevieja on the Costa Blanca, just 40 minutes from Alicante airport. This makes it a good choice for those looking to visit or even to make their home here permanently.
With just a few hotels, it is just as popular with the Spanish as with visitors from other parts of the world, predominantly the rest of Europe. Most of the residences here have their own pools as well as lush gardens. Add to this the stunning beaches with fine white sand and clear blue waters and you have the perfect mix. All beaches have the Blue Flag rating for cleanliness as well as first-class facilities. If you prefer to be in secluded coves, head to the north where you will find great places for snorkelling as well as diving. Alternatively, in the centre of town, beside the promenade, there are saline swimming pools, perfect for families with younger children.
Local people are very friendly and are only too happy to welcome both tourists and settlers. With English being spoken freely, if you are looking at living in this part of Spain but don’t speak the language, you don’t need to worry. Boat trips are also extremely popular, enabling voyagers to enjoy the views along the coastline whilst in a catamaran or cruiser. Whilst on board, you may also wish to stop off at the island of Tabarca.
Renowned mud baths
For those that love the climate of the Mediterranean for health reasons, you are well advised to visit the lakes of La Mata with their renowned mud baths; these are great for all types of complaints including those involving the heart, rheumatics and dermatological conditions. At the same time, checking out the natural saltwater lagoons is a must.
Torrevieja also has its fair share of superb open-air markets and street markets as well as an eclectic mix of shops. Buying fresh fish is easy, along with a rich supply of local fruit and vegetables.
