The rural location benefits from clear night skies. It is indeed a special place in the world of astronomy since its home to the Observatorio Astronómico de Mallorca. From mid-July through August, it’s high season for stargazers. This event is called by the Spanish people “Lágrimas de San Lorenzo” – the “tears of St. Lawrence”. These nights are magical since hundreds of falling stars shoot across the sky every night.
Costitx is also known due to its yearly flower festival, ‘Fira de la Flor’. All the streets of Costitx are covered by flowers in all kinds of shapes and colours. The flower-decked streets reveal the villagers’ creativity and artistic flair. This fira is mainly celebrated by the locals. As a matter of fact, there are not many tourists therefore the atmosphere is very special since you are able to taste the typical Mallorcan food and can dance at the bar in the plaça till late in the evening together with the people from the village.
Thus, Costitx is just a very charming place where you will for sure feel at home.
