There are loads of exciting activities that you can do in Mallorca – but if you are into golf, this island is a golf paradise. As a matter of fact, the biggest island of the Balearics is considered as one of the best golfing holiday destinations in Europe. Even though Mallorca is relatively small, there are a relatively large number of golf courses. To be precise, there are a total of 20 golf courses for tourists and non-members – whereas 11 are official standard golf courses. Therefore, it doesn’t matter how experienced you are, whether you are a Tiger Woods or just a beginner. There are easy courses, shorter courses, award-winning courses and courses that are challenging to the most experienced golfers.
Since Mallorca is an ideal place to golf due to the scenic mountain and sea views, quality of grass and the weather – there are a lot of competitions held on the island. For example, the Spanish Professional Championship, the Balearic Islands Trophy, the Challenge H.R.H. Count of Barcelona and many others. Most of the Mallorca golf courses are 18-hole courses. There are also a couple of 9 hole courses, which are normally the easier ones. Some of the golf courses are also attached to luxury hotels and resorts.
If you are not confident about your golfing skills and would like to have some coaching before you hit the greens by yourself, there are plenty of golfing schools and coaches on the island. You could either take a private lesson, a group lesson, or a family golf class. If you don’t know how to play at all you can also take an introductory golf lesson. This lesson will normally take around 3 hours and is a bit of instruction on how to hit a ball. There are, of course, also advanced instruction courses that can be taken. Also, there are classes for children available.
