Private and International Schools in Alicante

If you’ve decided to move to Alicante with your children , it’s time to look at the school options available in Costa Blanca. As well as the great public school options in Alicante, the province also has three fantastic private and international schools.

King’s College, The British School of Alicante

Founded in 1969, it is a British School, which is part of the King’s College school, situated in the periphery of Alicante. The school offers education for children between 3 and 18 years old.

At King’s College students become bilingual in English and Spanish, at the age of 15 years old, beofre the English exam the pupils take the IGCSE exam in Spanish. In this way the child will be fluent in Spanish and in English in order to be able to attend Spanish Education and Worldwide Education. Other optional languages courses available are French, German, Chinise and Valencian.

The aim of King’s College is to engage the students with their studies and extra curricular activities. The school includes some facilities such as: 7 newly refurbished laboratories, digital learning programmes, equipped music facilities, football / basketball and multipurpose pitches. Every classroom has state-of-the-art interactive whiteboard and wifi internet connection to be able to search on the web and be updated.

The school year start the beginning of September till the end of June, while the tuition fees need to be paid during the 3 terms per year and may vary depending on the grade of the student. This last can be from € 6,975 to € 9,900. For more information click on the link

The Norwegian School – Den norske skole Costa Blanca

The Norwegian School Costa Blanca is a Norwegian School Located in Alicante. The school is based on the Norwegian rules and laws, it is approved by Norway as a private school. As concerned with the Norwegian Authorities, the students receive 85% of the cost of the tuition.

School Fees for primary and lower secondary school are calculated per month while the upper secondary school need to be paid in advance (165 Euro per month – first child, other children 130 euros per month). If the child is a short-term student the fees need to be paid in advance at the start (57 Euros per week – first child, other children 48 Euros per week).

Lope de Vega International School

It is a private bilingual American School situated in Benidorm, Alicante for children between 3 and 18 years old.

At Lope de Vega International School 70% of the classes are taken in English, students learn English naturally using the British methodology, which allows students to become bilingual at the end of the studies, read more at The programmes are taken in English and Spanish, at the first year of secondary school classes of French are added. These languages are certified by official examinations from Cambridge University, Alliance Francaise and Istituto Cervante. Moreover, the school collaborate with Erasmus Programmes.

The methodology used by the school is to encourage the students to use their abilities and absorb the contents, to be able to cooperate and take decisions with their colleagues. The school offers technological tools and Internet connections in all classroom and the secondary students are able to choose between the Spanish curriculum (bilingual in English) or Dual Diploma (American-Spanish Baccalaureate).
